AS> ROTT is/was awesome. What game was smart enough to thikn up
AS> "Hey lets put in the John Woo move, dual pistols!"

*laugh*
No comment ;) Although I must admit I did like that :)
AS> and it had great original weapons, like for once A REGULAR MACHINE
AS> GUN,and the drunk missile, a real looking rocket launcher, heat
AS> seekers, the firewall, and all the rest.

Yes, the machine gun was ok, but not much different to other "no regular
machine
guns". The problem with ROTTs weapons is they were too similar, you have the
bat, the pistol(s), machine gun, and then rocket launchers, that's it. Sure
they're different, but still so similar, the firewall was the most different,
but still an explosive based weapon, the drunk missiles, "normal" launcher,
heat seekers, and any I may have missed were all very similar.
AS> Doom's weapons were terrible looking, except for perhaps the pistol
 AS> and the chainsaw.

Yes, I gues they were rather undeatailed, but I don't think anyone really
cared,
or even noticed to a large extent.
AS> The BFG9000 just looked like a big lump.

*grin* I must admit that was probably one of the worst looking weapons I'd
ever
seen.
AS> How can you compare Doom to ROTT.

Because they came out at a similar time, so of course they get compared to
one another :)
AS> Perhaps you can compare it to Quake.

Which would be stupid because they are so different.
AS> The weapons and everything in that are very cool. The nailgun,
AS> and those underwater sequences. Great stuff.

*nods wildly*
:)
AS> Except, the enemies could look a bit better.

Yes, they could, but single player Quake is boring anyway, I bought the full
version of Quake, and I still haven't even bothered to play through all of
ep 2-4 in single player.
 AS> But deathmatching is fun,

VERY fun, pretty much the only reason I bought it, very very very good
deathmatch :)
AS> the deathmatch options and even fighting a deathmatch in ROTT was
 AS> TERRIBLE!
Better than anything available at the time, for instance ROTT you could start
a new game at any level whilst connected -great feature.
Unlike doom 2 where if you want to play level 1 deathmatch (one of the best)
and level 30 (quite good, very weird) you have to play through 28 levels,
nly
2 or 3 of which are any good for deathmatch. ROTT however you could play any
of
the decent deathmatch levels whenever you wanted.
Sure if you compare graphics ROTT was better, but even then it wasn't as good
overall, they looked better individually, but they didn't seem to all fit
together very well. Doom however did.
Quake in my opionion is the best deathmatch game I've ever played, and doom
in my opinion was better than ROTT but ROTT did have some features that Doom
should have.
For instance -ever played doom 2 deathmatch from level 1-30? I have a few
times,
once you finish level 30, that's it. No starting again. You can't even chat
to each other to say cya! That was very very bad, same thing happened in
o-op
too.
