CheckFree has a new offer for Quicken Windows users. The upgrade will
allow electronic drafts from more than one checking account.
Quicken 5 has its own (INTUIT) electronic bill paying system.
As I understand it, Quicken 4 users who use Checkfree can take
CheckFree into the Quicken 5 upgrade, but new users of Quicken 5
cannot use CheckFree.
I have used CheckFree for almost 4 years with my business. I prefer to
use DOS Quicken. I have Quicken 4.0 (Windows) and use it for keeping
track of personal financial investments--however I find it cumbersome
compared to the speed I have in navigating Q8.0DOS in my business.
CheckFree says that they have no plans for a DOS version which allows
use of multiple accounts for electronic funds transfer. Intuit has put
DOS Quicken on the back burner.
If you are a CheckFree/QuickenDOS user, the pressure is on to switch to
the Windows version of Quicken if you want to utilize new features
offered in the CheckFree upgrade.
I feel a need to make the [inevitable] transition to Windows
Quicken. Have any of you DOS Quicken fans made the transition to
Windows? Especially, are there any of you who are 'power users' of
Quicken who have made a transition to Windows and retrained your skills
in rapid data entry and speed of operations? For me, this means a
transition from typist keystroke navigation to mouse use.
(By 'power user' I mean using Quicken to perform payroll, payables,
investments, 401k, personal finances in multiple checking, payroll,
vendor, savings and investment accounts.)
