This is true, and unfortunate, as I see it. I have left my pistol in 
my truck on occasion, such as when I am working (live sound engineer)
in a venue that serves alcohol, but it doesn't seem like a good idea,
since someone could break in to steal something visible, and end up
with a very nice pistol. :-(
