Get PerfectDisk www.raxco.com, it can defrag the MFT and enlarge or shink it.
what happens is when tiny files are created (say 1k file sizes) the entire
file is stored in the MFT instead of just information about where the file
is stored. As that happens the MFT can get filled or can suck up all the
disk space and once it's MFT space it's never freed up again.
This should not be a problem but MS has never addressed it by including MFT
repair in their defrag program so you have to use a third party defrag to
fix it.
