LK> PN> I had (am having) an interesting experience with a local
LK> PN> major dealer. I purchased a holster and ammo, used
LK> PN> plaxtic. The holster was purchased with the understanding
LK> PN> that it was exchangeable if it didn't fit, which it
LK> PN> didn't. When I returned to exchange it for another of the
LK> PN> same price they pushed a form in front of me that had
LK> PN> everything but my mother's maiden name on it. They
LK> PN> refused to make an even exchange without the information.
LK> PN> I felt it was excessive and a violation of my privacy. I
LK> PN> choose not to provide most of that information when
LK> PN> dealing with _anybody_. While I recognize they are within
LK> PN> their rights I don't choose to do business with folks
LK> PN> under those conditions.
Actually, they may not be within their rights. Here in Maryland,
because of that exact type of problem, they enacted some laws
restricting how much they can ask you. It's illegal now for them to
demand your drivers license or your phone number on either a credit car
or check purchase.
In any case, as I'm sure you've noticed, very rarely do any of the
places that demand that sort of garbage ever attempt to verify it.
Which is why I almost always fill it out with false information. Same
when I check into buildings and such. Fake name, fake address, fake
phone, etc.
