There's no substitute for the real thing-that's why I use TP still.  I have
a bad taste in my mouth for a lot of OSS stuff (that's why I've never been
a big Linux fan, but that's another story for another place and time).

FPC can do Delphi just fine, but its Borland emulation (Turbo/Borland)
isn't very good IMNSHO.  I'd rather have something that works rather than
lots of bells and whistles.  A majority of programming for me is done in a
little DOS text editor and then I call TPC/BPC from within the program.

For OS/2 programming, I find VP much, much better and reliable than FPC
(probably for obvious reasons).
