From: John Beckett "Geo" wrote in message news:: > I always thought streams were one of the more cool features of NTFS Just FYI, Internet Explorer flags files you download in the ADS. That's (I think) how Windows can warn you before opening a file, even a month after you downloaded it. The flag shows the security zone where the file came from. You might have to upgrade to XP to try this: Download a file from some web site, say sample.pdf. notepad sample.pdf:Zone.Identifier The streams.exe tool from Sysinternals can show ADS: streams sample.pdf Was it W2000 where Explorer stores thumbprints in ADS when you browse jpg pictures?
