Specification:

    "1. The act or an instance specifying; the state of being specified.

     2. A detailed description of the construction, workmanship, materials,
etc., of work done or to be done, prepared by an architect, engineer,
etc."

    This is from The Oxford Encyclopedic English Dictionary. If that is
out-of-spec, perhaps you could enlighten me as to the source of a better
reference.
