In France there are courts that have a jury of judges. In Northern Ireland jury courts were replaced by 3 Judges when it became obvious that the verdict could be predicted by simply asking the jurors their religion. In England there are Magistrates Courts where 3 non-lawyers decide on guilt and the punishment. They only try minor cases, major crimes like murder are sent to jury courts.
