I was pretty young but the Tigers' Denny McLain won 31 games in 1968....Dizzt 
Dean was at the game as he was the last player to do it B4 him!  ..in 1935 I
think.......there were some guys who had over 40 wins but not sure who has
the record.............BTW Tigers went on to win Series, it was the same year 
Bob Gibson had the 1.12 ERA for the Cardinals, and he set a record striking
out 17 Tigers in the WS......but Mickey Lolich came thru & won 3 WS games &
>Tigers prevailed in 7 games
