| subject: | Z386-25 CMOS Bat Locatio |
Thanks for your time! GE> Is it black, rectangular, with one corner cut off? Yes! GE> http://www.dsmiller.com/html/Desktop-CMOS-Zenith-386-25-B-282.htm I just tried that with Seamonkey 1.0.3+ for OS/2 here. White blank page and that is all.... GE> MFG Part#: B-282 OK . GE> Description: GE> Lithium CMOS battery GE> Clock and battery module. GE> Qty Availability: Backorder Scowl, but .. FWIW, the markings on this component are: SMARTBATTERY DALLAS DS1260100 9112 3 Volt Litium It has a whole bunch of connectors in two rows in it, opposite the screw hole and holdown screw and nut. From the bottom of the circuit board,it looks like there are only three of those solder pins actually used. But we both know that there are more than one layer of a motherboard cat to skin when thinking about such. I can't see the top side of the solder holes between the component and the top of the motherboard. Even though there may be no traces visible on top the board, it might be that there are internal layers in use for the other pins. Although usually when that is done you see shim trim contact at the solder points that carries the operation into the internal layers if my memory is right. There is none of that visible here. Thus, even though as another poster here suggested, I could pry the top off it and there is a flat lithium cell inside it, in this case I can't. The whole component is completely hard molded as far as I can see. There is no seam line to get the top off. That in contrast with later lithium cell holders which do have a pry off top you can yank and change batteries inside with. I've done that on many other boards. I've a couple other hits on Google for this thing and one 1-800 number in the USA to call. I'm acting on that now. If you have any other suggestions I'd sure like to know. Like maybe milling off that top layer? Or is it completely potted into that black plastic block and you could not do that? Thanks for any thoughts anyone could give me here. --> Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;) Mike {at} 1:117/3001 --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: Ziplog Public Port (1:117/3001) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 117/3001 100 106/1 2000 633/267 |
