I'll go with Explanation 2 as a lot of people are saying there was
makeup to make his face look scarred in addition to the eye-blackening
stuff that ran, as well as the half-{at}$$ed attempt to make top from of
his hairline look damaged.

Was Shane's going through the glass the more impressive, or are we
counting the first try where he didn't go through about just about
killed himself on the 2-to-3-foot drop?
