yes, it would... i understand the idea you had...

you might want to add something in large type that says that it is an alpha or
beta or whatever... there's probably already enough in the current docs,
though...

the main thing why i would add those files is so that someone just getting
started doesn't have to start with a normal release archive and then move to
one of your betas... they can just start with the beta and move ahead as
needed...

then again, maybe just the COPYING, README, one of the config files and the
binary would be ok? oh and maybe the more current of the history files...
