More-likley such disappearances are spurred by the many many msgs they see 
saying "I would register if you'd add 'xyz' feature" and noting the number of 
people that use it well-beyond the 'trial' period....  if people use 
shareware, they should register it - if it suits their purposes enough that 
it's usable on a daily basis, the author deserves to be compensated for 
his/her efforts, not to be held up by some quasi-blackmail.
