FW>60 birds were stolen in San Antonio just recently. I don't know the full
FW>story. But it seems that someone calls to set up an appointment to see a
FW>bird and that way they find out when your home and when your not.
A bird theft ring was going on here for a while too--a couple women with
several kids would arrive at an appointed time. While the kids ran amok
in the home (causing major destruction, from what I heard), the women
would grab baby birds. They hit a pet store or two, also. The word
spread of their descriptions, and they vanished--probably went to
another state to try their luck there.
It's scary to be in this business these days. I get some WEIRD calls
occasionally. I screen the heck out of people before I tell them where I
live--out of 10 callers, maybe one makes it over here. The ones that
REALLY scare me are the ones who finally pass my screening, get the
directions, make an appointment, then never show up........
