Dear Pat,
Wow! I can only figure three possibilities; One the lady that
gifted your MIL with the Pine needle basket had worked on it for a long
time before they met, 2) the lady worked at whizzzzzzzzzing speed ,
or 3) she was doing a different kind of pineneedle basket than i do.
????????
A week , when ever i can spare a minute, is about as fast as i can
do one [menium size. Even a 'sampler' [starting with a larger center
and putting on only a few rows], takes a couple of hours.
I once did a large sewing basket one with double loop handles and a
lid. It took me about a year. Of course, i didn't work on it steady.
Congratulations on your finishing a quilt. Trapunto and shadow
appique are the closest i get to quilting.
     Shalom, ll
