Not familiar with cocos, but the old CP/M microcomputers (8080/Z80 CPU) can do most anything the hottest PCs can do - except graphics. They can even do Fidonet - an acquaintance wrote a Fidonet package for CP/M based machines, mainly because 'they' said it couldn't be done. Note that while they *can* do most things, it will take a lot longer than most folks are used to. I put myself through college using a Heathkit H-89 with *six* 5.25" floppy drives (3 hard sector 90KB SSSD each and 3 soft sector 760KB DSDD each) and no HD. I had the SuperCalc spreadsheet (which I upgraded to Quattro v2.0 for $99 when Borland offered their then $399 product for $99 and the manual or distribution disk from any competitor's product - I must not have been the only one that did that because they changed their offer to restrict it to DOS based products, this was before Windows). I wrote a spreadsheet that did linear regression functions, it took a while to run but it worked. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 14/400 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 222/2 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/1 306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 396/45 633/104 260 267 285 690/734 712/848 SEEN-BY: 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 109 200 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 116/901 3634/12 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
