Dear Fido-colleagues,

My system today has suffered a major crash from which I don't know if I will
ever recover.

The disc with most relevant information (batch-files, configuration,
pstn-mailer, tosser, webserver, makenl-stuff, whatever-you-can-think of)
crashed. I still have a functional binkd but it will only accept incoming
stuff and has no outbound.

The back-up is kept on a separate hard-disc. That seems to have crashed as
well. I was out most of the day and when I came home the system was in a
very odd hold-state with multi-coloured vertical stripes on the screen. The
system could reboot, the C:-drive with the OS and certain functions such as
this e-mail application is still functional but at the moment I am at a loss
what to do about this all. It seems there must have been a very bad
power-outage or something like that when we were gone, at least that is my
guess. 2 near simultaneous disc-crashes ... never seen something like it.

Will need a few days to think about this and figure a way-out ... if there
is any.

At this moment I do not exclude that I will not recover within the
frame-work of Fido.

What is a lot worse is that there was a lot of work stored on the hard-disc
for school of my youngsters ...

A total disaster ...
