I'm thinking some security type is going to do it instead of the malware
types. Unpatched and infected boxes hurt everyone and give almost unlimited
power to hackers and if there is no other way because MS's insistance on
forcing WGA down the users throats has caused large numbers of users to no
longer patch, well then perhaps it's time for a truely destructive worm to
clean up the net.
Such a worm would eliminate exploitable boxes leaving people no choice but
to patch or die and at the same time cause unimaginable problems for MS in
return for the problems their policies have caused. (picture millions of
legit users reinstalling and calling MS and all the other vendors who's
software requires activation)
I could see this happening if as many people as I believe are no longer
patching due to WGA and now the IE7 force feeding.
Geo.
