SG> At first, we had one Wal-mart (of 3 in town) that was
SG> posted. Strangely, they also banned cameras at that store.
SG> :-O After a couple of good talks about liability, they
SG> removed the sign.
How did the conversation go? Did you, yourself, do the 'splaining or did
several of you get together in a mini-campaign?
SG> OTOH, one of our Sam's Clubs posted the T.A.B.C. sign on
^^^^^^^^
????????
SG> their door. I don't know if they still do, but we could
SG> simply point out that the sign doesn't apply to us
SG> according to the law. Thus, if their intent is to prevent

SG> I don't use fanny packs, but a friend of mine says he was
SG> in a store when someone asked what was in the fanny pack
SG> (as a friendly question). Answer - his checkbook, this guy
I keep waiting for a cop or security guard to ask me about my fanny pack when
I go into somewhere where I'm not supposed to carry (like Sun Devil footbal
games) and ask me if I'm armed. That's when I'll say, "yes, with the most
potent weapon known to man" then whip out the current paperback that I'm
reading. :-) I =know= they won't think it's funny, but, what the hell can
they do about it? :-)
SG> hasn't had a chance to take the proficiency yet. He just
SG> liked the Galco as a fanny pack. Still, it was interesting.
SG> (So maybe your encounter wasn't interested in it as a
SG> holster!)
I know he was specifically interested in it as a holster because he said that
he was considering one when he got his CCW. I talked it up a bit (got to
support those home-town businesses, y'know) then proceeded to give him the
name and # of a friend who's a CCW instructor. (Gotta start getting him to
giving me finder's fees on my referrals. :-) )
SG> There is sort of an assumption that if you have a Galco
SG> fanny pack (and they are easy to spot, BTW), you must be
SG> carrying. Well, that could be a good thing, I guess. Maybe
SG> like those people who sell NRA hats to tourists in Florida,
SG> Galco packs will become something people who don't carry
SG> use to make bad guys think they do.
Well, the first time I get caught in the mall, I'll tell them that they
should be searching every fanny pack and purse that comes in the door. :-)
SG> As I don't normally use a fanny pack - I carry a
SG> full-fledged briefcase (yes, with a holster in it) -
SG> perhaps I'm making myself look unarmed. Or maybe not - a
SG> briefcase is still pretty obvious. But if they think I'm
SG> unarmed, they're in for a shock.
Do you have any info on the briefcase?
SG> But if Galco hasn't considered the tactical value of a
SG> standard fanny pack with their trademark on it, they're
SG> missing a great opportunity. :-)
Yeah, but that sorta destroys the concealment value and since we have open
carry here, makes it kinda moot. :-) Be sorta like sticking a gun under
your jacket then loudly announcing, "I'm carrying a gun!" :-)
