My goodness... you have a REAL handle on a lot of info I never knew...
I think I'll hang out and listen for a while; I always learn something
from you. (Thanks!) Breakfast with M,D & M, eh? sounds like an
interesting morning... guess everything else that day was
anticlimactic, to say the least (or was it?). I dimly recall Zappa
producing GF, but only dimly... I think I may have left the bounds of
prog rock with that; sorry, I wasn't thinking topically- nothing new...
My personal thang is world music-- but I lean toward the progressive
aspect a bit more than the traditional. There's a Scottish lady named
Talitha MacKenzie who uses E.African Polyrythms and instruments from
all over (her voice is the best one, though); I'd consider her a prog
rocker, given the sophistication... another one outta Scotland is
Shooglenifty-- they tried to classify themselves as something like
"Acid-techno-funk-trance-rock..." I dunno; I think your classification
is a lot more to the point, and simpler- if one is to join the Age of
Classification (yet, also the Age of Diversity?) I passed on a chance
to get a boxed set of Brian Eno's work really cheaply-- lady wanted 15
bucks for it... guess I was busy elsewhere or something. Just a few
random thoughts... I'll keep the offline mailreader dialed to this
station, though-- you run a pretty good show. Oh, I got a
moderator's spot here in KC on UsersNet-- music, no less. And a
bibliophile's chat group too... Not much traffic yet, but it's a great
way to stay disciplined as a writer. Progressively yours,
