Anyone get a chance to look for comet Holmes? Last night was the first really clear night here in Minnesota in the last several weeks so I went out with my binoculars around 10PM last night. It's very easy to find using a couple of the stars of Cassiopeia as a pointer. When I went out, the stars pointed straight down so I just panned downward and there it was - a circular fuzzy patch with a slightly brighter center - very obvious once you've seen it and it's easy to pick it out as a fuzzy-looking star with the naked eye, even here in the light-polluted suburbs of Minneapolis. Of course last night was a cool fall night with fairly clear skies that we get this time of year instead of the more humid summer nights. Quite a sight - go look if you have a chance. Here's a web site about it - http://www.space.com/spacewatch/071023-comet-holmes-update.html --- Microsoft Windows Mail 6.0.6000.16480* Origin: The Eastern Star - Fidonet Via Your Newsreader (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 300 400 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 222/2 SEEN-BY: 226/0 236/150 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1411 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 633/260 262 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 SEEN-BY: 801/189 2222/700 2320/105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
