Another aspect of this.  The interests that Microsoft has to protect have
become far too obese from feeding on the cash cow of the Microsoft desktop
monopoly.

Once that cash cow moves on to that big pasture in the sky, Microsoft will
have to do some very serious cost cutting (and I don't mean the towels) in
order to stay alive.  Unfortunately, I have worked for a company that was
in a "downsizing" mood.  It was not a happy place to be, even
though I was one of the people who were not encouraged to seek alternate
career opportunities.

Wall Street seems to know that all is not well in Redmond.
