Hi Bob
KW> A fellow I chat with daily has a theory that there is a connection
KW> between spring time and women wanting to paint (walls, etc, not
KW> pictures)..
BD> I agree with him! Then, too, there's the matter of full moons, idle
BD> time, and general male bashing which seems to require no particular
BD> onset of special conditions!!!!!!! Hehhehheh
Full moons I understand, but what the heck is idle time (unless you
count time spent talking to the likes of you)? :)
As for male bashing.....I'm more likely to female bash. All my best
friends have been male.
BD> All this can summed up neatly with a Dagwood phrase: "Husbands are
BD> a sorry lot!"
Then why does my husband always tell about to be bridegrooms that it
was the best thing he ever did?
assuming of course that it is he who will do all the
BD> actual actual painting before you `let him' turn up the earth where
BD> the flowers will be planted!
Wow. You just live in a different world, Bob. My husband cuts in and
does the trim, while I use the roller. It's a team job to paint rooms.
On the other hand, the fence, the garage and the indoor woodwork (when
the rest of the room isn't being painted) are always done by me alone.
As for the garden, I will let him rotortil the veggie garden when it is
dry enough, but it is small enough that I have been known to turn it
by hand (er, shovel). He isn't allowed to touch the flower gardens
because he can't tell a plant from a weed. Last year he decided to
be nice and hoed under a whole patch of poppies. I even have to put
tomato cages around new bushes or he mowes them off. (maybe I should
take that as a hint, eh).
BD> Money makes the world go 'round, alright.
Most of the things I do, I don't start out doing for money. I wrote
a correspondent column on a volunteer basis, but someone decided to
ask me to write a weekly column for another local paper and pay me.
I volunteered to be the local co-ordinator for the karate club, since
I liked what I saw happening there, and the intructor was from out of
town. Now I own it. I was just a student in the Tai Chi class and
the teacher gave me the class when she moved away, and I wasn't even
the most advanced student. I do things for fun, and the money comes
later. It isn't planned that way.
KW> game. My son did ask me a couple of times to leave him out of it
KW> though :)
BD> Don't listen! Who would Irma Bombeck(?) be now is she had chickened
BD> out just because the shoe was too tight? (No doubt the shoe fit!)
My husband ended up in one of them too. Not my fault he decided to
fix the plumbing on a Sunday (in days before the stores were open Sundays).
We ended up having our plumbing connected though heater hose. That's
what happens when you let the wrong kind of professional do the job :)
BD> And the world would be cheated out of a budding novelist?
Ah, the novel. It's in the drawer :) I wrote that back in the days
when I didn't have a proper computer and got tired of trying to type
rewrites. Must drag that out one of these days and run it through
the word processor :)
Nice chatting with you Bob, even if it was all off topic.
I have seen some interesting samples of some of the other people's
works. Never know what will pop up in my e-mail :)
