Hi Folks,

For those of you who are familiar with the works of Jacques Vallee, you will
recognize the great efforts and achievement of Mr. Vallee of compiling a large
database of UFO sightings reports in his book, "Passport to Magonia" (ISBN:
0-8092-3796-2). This database is comprised of 923 sightings, from the years
1868 to 1968, a century of UFO sightings.

It has long been a goal of mine to scan in this database and make it freely
available on the nets to anyone who has a genuine interest in UFOlogy. It has
taken me the last several weeks to achieve this goal, scanning it in whenever I
had the chance. My over-riding belief has been that as a resource, it's too
valuable a contribution to UFOlogy to remain locked away in the dusty pages of
a book.

I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank John Powell, for his
time, his feedback to me in netmail on this project and his dedicated efforts
in working on the data analysis and search patterns on the database itself.
Through his efforts, a veritable ream of valuable hard data has been produced
in the form of time-study, bar-graph GIF graphics, regional analysis by state
and country, analysis reports across a wide variety of search fields, and much
much more. What John has brought forth is pretty awesome! In addition, John
will be handling the bulk of the wider distribution to ParaNet, MufoNet, and
Internet with the complete Part 1 package, which contains all the associated
analysis and GIF files, which are too lengthy to post on the nets and echoes.

So, I present this as a Christmas gift to all in cyberspace. Merry Christmas,
folks! :-)
