Havin fought the pair gain and the phone company I called the phone company
and told them if another phone provider came to the area I was switching! I
had them disconnect the line used for the modem since the hiss from the pair
gain line would cause me to drop carrier.
The phone company was called again and they came out with a stand alone
Motorola modem and tested my line used for regular phone use. It had been
connected with a wrong device of some sort in the office. The tests were
conducted by one of their noise experts and a supervisor. The other end was
a long distance away. Most of the problems went away when the pair gain was
disconnected.
A proper operating pair gain line should not hiss and disturb the modem
however it was never resolved and the second line was re-installed as a non
pair gain line.
I feel the phone company should work with you and solve the problem.
Maybe Craig Ford can jump in here and shed some more light on the situation.
I have tried to get a phone standards file from a publishing company without
any luck.
Here is hoping you problem will be solved soon.
