If you use linux's unzip BBBS'l make its directories (at least the copy I
got from sunsite did.

Yup.. I had to issue the 'chmod +x *.exe' command before I could make
ANYTHING work...

I'd suggest forgetting a 'BBS' package and go with ifmail and its
packages, Jim. It takes a bit of learning and fooling around, and your
on-line customers need to learn how to work with standard unix tools
(pine, lynx et al), but overall ifmail's support is much better, and if
you use a bit of 'dialog' you can build menus that're pretty and usable.
I haven't figgered how to run an 'adduser' type function for new on-line
cusomers.

You said it....
BBBS has potential, but no documentation. I found one of the biggest
shortfalls of BBBS was that it wouldn't talk to an smtp mailer on the same
machine (or no one could tell me how)..
Also, BBBS runs as 'root'... I'm fairly certain suid could fix that
problem, but I didn't fool with it much.
I'm not trying to bash BBBS, but it seems that it's a DOS-based platform
that has been ported (and rather well I might add) to *nix....
As ususal, your milage may vary...
