Ooops, hazy memory here, was it Neal Schon and Mike
        Shrieve, does that sound right?

But still, compare to how many bands started out as prog
bands, not just Journey, how about: Split Enz, Horslips,
Genesis, Supertramp, ELO, even, arguably, Chicago. I'm
sure we can all think of many more.

WG> BTW, ever seen Grand Funk in concert?

I even had breakfast with them once at the Holiday Inn in
Binghampton, NY, round about 1970 or 71. They were nice
guys. I even sort of like that tune they did that tried
to sound like "21st Century Schizoid Man."

WG> I did, but only AFTER the lapse.

You mean when Zappa produced them?

WG> Carlos Santana does some pretty good work (alas, too little) on JL
WG> Hooker's last coupla albums, worth a listen.

I heard they were considering replacing Jerry Garcia with
Santana in the Dreadful Grate, man what a mismatch that
        would have been.

                                Cheers,
                                Kenneth
