| subject: | Re: Publish and be Wrong |
Thus spake "curmudgeon" : >The fallibility of scientific journals. > Publish and be wrong : > http://www.economist.com:80/science/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12376658 I've had three papers published, and none have been refuted and one was recently sourced in a paper I was referreing (author didn't know who was doing it, obviously). Almost 30 years later. The validity of the research needs to be compared vs. the direct benefit to the author. I personally think that the results of a study on cryptographic confidentiality conducted by a grad student might be a little less circumspect than one conducted by a researcher at PGP. Also, the article focuses on end product publication, not basic research. > ****************************************** >"We are what we repeatedly do, >excellence then is not an act but a habit." >*Aristotle* > ****************************************** > --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: Derby City Gateway (1:2320/0) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 132/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 396/45 633/0 104 260 267 690/682 734 712/848 SEEN-BY: 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 109 200 2905/0 @PATH: 2320/0 100 261/38 633/260 267 |
