(grin). We had a WordStar fan at work, and he bought Wordstar Pro to
use as our standard wordprocessor. It came in 47 360K discs (so it
seemed), and this was the last word in Wordstar... the final solution!

It was so awful I honestly couldn't believe it! I tried if for a
week and I still didn't believe it, so I went upstairs and abused the
shit out of him for being such a dickhead. We nearly came to blows. It
was the only program I'd ever used where I couldn't believe anyone
would be so stupid to do it like that. You had to learn 147 special
commands! And nothing made sense.

The factory next door closed down, and in the junk they left behind
we found a wordprocessor package that did everything Wordstar did,
without having to type five letters every time you wanted it to do it.
The whole thing was 100K, including the help file! We used that little
wordprocessor until we employed the poofter programmer and he brought
MSWord(4) with him. The advantage of Word was that it read text files
like Wordstar, and we were able to import unformatted files, and I've
used Word ever since.

BL> I must have been one of their best customers until they fucked
 BL> me with DOS6.

JG> Hmmm, it was more the, 'you can pay for this bug fix' attitude
JG> that finally pissed me off with their applications software.

Yair... all that: charging for advice when you want a workaround one
of their fuckups.

I found a fault in Word5 that was buggering my printing, and I must
have spent 4 hours on the phone before they finally duplicated it and
admitted that it was their fault with no way out. That would have cost
me $500 today. Fuck them! I refuse to upgrade to Word6. I don't expect
programs to be perfect, but why would I pay money for a new set of
bugs, when they'll only charge me $200 to tell me to go root my boot?

I actually like M$, but there's no way I'll pay my hard-earned with
no effective backup for bugs. I'll just doddle along, two years out of
date and let someone else work it out first.

Regards,
Bob
