I believe that the very first version of DOS came on those huge 8" or
so disks...... the 5.25" disks required DOS 2. somethingorother to run.
I have a copy of DOS 2 somewhere, and shall dig it out in the next day
or so for you.
The interesting thing with the very early versions of DOS is that they
only recognised floppy drives.... typing C: would bring back an error
message ............ how things have changed! :-)
As for DOS 1, it would be basically impossible to run it from a modern
floppy, as the format and sys commands were pretty inflexible ... though
someone may correct me on that!
