Hmmm, I even sell albums that I love, perhaps just to
avoid stasis and to avoid getting hung up on material
things (after all, the music is still in my head, right?).
Often I'll go through cycles of buying an album, selling
it (or giving it away or destroying it), rebuying,
selling again, rebuying. I started buying records over 30
years ago, so I'm beginning to note recurring patterns.

FS> The only one I've ever sold is _Filmore East_ (I

IMO the original CD release is merely very good, whereas
the special remaster edition with the extra tracks is
excellent, one of the finest CD releases of old material
ever done, one of the few CD releases that makes it worth
your while buying it when you already own a vinyl copy.
        But of course, your mileage may vary. And well it should;
mileage variance is what makes the world go round.

FS> As for Khan, I was reading something on r.m.p. that mentioned that
FS> Steve Hillage wrote some music for a second Khan album, but he ended
FS> up joining Gong before he recorded it. Apparently a lot of the
FS> material ended up on his solo album _Fish Rising_.

Yup, _FR_ is a sort of schizo album with some material
sounding Khanish and some sounding Gongish.

FS>I was listening to FR today. It's much better than SS...

I would agree with that, _FR_ is a particularly good
album, certainly Hillage's best, perhaps followed by _L_.
Interestingly, his tour with System 7 recently had him
playing on the west coast in the same town at the same
time as the classic Gong line-up, missing only
Stevillage, of Daevid, Gilli, Pierre Moerlen, and Mike
Howlett and they couldn't get it together enough to have
a gig with Steve. Still, I guess if they had I would have
bitched about Tim Blake not being along. And Steffi's
alright, even if he ain't a chick. ;-)

                                Cheers,
                                Kenneth
