| subject: | WATCOM is ? |
In a message on 03-19-95, Rob Landley said to Peter Hansen:
RL>In unix, the period is considered a normal part of the filename.
RL>Thus you can have two distinct files called "spam" and
"spam."
I thought so. That makes WATCOM's behaviour unusual at best.
RL>In OS/2, under HPFS, I believe it works like unix.
No. According to the file system documentation I read from DevCon 3,
trailing periods are illegal, or at least are simply ignored by an
application. Something like "no filename may end in a period".
