From: "Frank Haber" I and clients (all WU or manual updaters) have had a lot of trouble with servers on this one. On one machine of mine, permitting the DL of all after a "notify" popup just made WU go away. When nothing happened for half an hour, while other machines on my IP were updating merrily, I started a manual download. On reboot, the "notify" popup returned. Selecting "download" (for the heck of it) produced a write-to-0 hard crash in SVCHOST. I had to use the power button for the first time in months. Yesterday, the servers were hopeless. I gave up. So where's this load-balancing we were led to expect? This was in NYC, but CNET in CA had enough trouble to write about it (link below). Also, don't forget. IE7 is coming; if you don't want it, block it: http://news.com.com/Microsoft+struggles+with+Patch+Tuesday/2100-1002_3-6124447. html?tag=html.alert --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
