Hi, Rob.

RL> In unix, the period is considered a normal part of the filename. Thus
RL> you can have two distinct files called "spam" and "spam."
Granted.
RL> In OS/2, under HPFS, I believe it works like unix.
'Fraid not -- watch this:
---
[F:\emx\doc]copy con ThisIsATest.
Just testing...^Z
1 file(s) copied.
[F:\emx\doc]dir t*
The volume label in drive F is PROGRAMMING.
The Volume Serial Number is 6617:1C14.
Directory of F:\emx\doc
20-03-95 6:03p 15 0 ThisIsATest
1 file(s) 15 bytes used
21492736 bytes free
---
Notice no trailing . on the directory listing. Then this:
---
[F:\emx\doc]type ThisIsATest.
Just testing...
[F:\emx\doc]type ThisIsATest
Just testing...
---
It looks like OS/2 (or maybe cmd.exe) strips trailing dots in the same way
it folds case in filenames.
Andrew.
