Yeah, a lower-case-m "messiah" is mentioned there, I mean an
upper-case-M "messiah" (as in at the end of days)

Most scholars identify the messiah in the prophets with Cyrus, who was
"annointed"("messiah") to do God's work in disciplining Israel.

Which your suggested Daniel passage seems to be referring to:
Daniel Chapter 9 (KJV)
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city
and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end
of the war desolations are determined.

So THIS messiah was called the prince, and it says the people OF THE
PRINCE will destroy the city & sanctuary (clearly referring to Jerusalem
& the Temple) so apparently this says that Caesar was annointed by God
to do the destruction in 70CE.

More to show that Jesus, nor anyone else can claim the title of
Messiah("M")

Let's look at Hebrew Biblical prophecy, for some of the prophetic
signs of the Messiah:

* To bring about eternal Peace between the nations-
          Isaiah 2:4; Micah4:3; Zechariah 9:9-10;
          Ezekiel 39:9;Isaiah 11:6
* To bring about an end to idolatry--
          Zechariah 13:2; Isaiah 2:18; Zephaniah 2:11
* To make the world recognize that Gd is, indeed, Gd--
          Isaiah 11:9;40:5; Isaiah 52:1;66:23;
          Jeremiah 3:17;31:34
* to re-establish the dynasty of King David, from whom the Messiah
  will be able to trace his own lineage through his own biological
  father --
          Isaiah 11:1
* To cause the Ingathering of the 12 tribes --
          Isaiah 27:12ff; 11:12; Ezekiel 37:1ff
* To rebuild the Temple --
          Micah 4:1
* To remove famine from the earth--
          Ezekiel 37:1ff
* To make the world (or at least the carnivorous animals) into
vegetarians--
          Isaiah 11:7


Until ALL the above HAS BEEN ALREADY completed, there's no claim of
Messiah!

That doesn't mean that Yeshu HaNossri or any of the dozens of others of
the era claimed as Messiah won't be the one to finish this off, but he
doesn't get the title until all is complete -- anything else is
blaspheming God's prophecies!

My God is big enough to accomplish ALL that He has said He would do!
Any claim of anything less than that must be attempting to usurp God's
claims for man or for idol!  I don't go with that kind of stuff!

So many say that these prophecies can't be literal, that the lion won't
LITERALLY lie down with the lamb, that it's figurative of a greater
degree of peace than ever before seen -- BAH, I say!  I await the
FULL fulfillment, when the lions will eat straw like the cattle!

My God will be glorified in FULL POWER of His Creation Authority!
