I saw Aynsley Dunbar drumming for Journey on their first
tour, when they were a spacy jam band. This was at the
Cap Center in Largo, Md. near D.C. They were the opening
band for Santana, which was logical considering Journey
was a splinter band from Santana, looking to move away
from the straighter pop of Santana and more toward long
        instrumentals (Holy Irony, Batman!).

For the record it was a good show and even though Journey
was kinda loose they were still pretty good.

Santana was touring with _Amigos_ and alternated, like
that album, between annoying disco and really great
        samba-based cosmic jams.

The hall was filled with unstoned people since they'd all
bought something called "chocolate mesc" at $3-$10 a hit,
which was of course just Nestle's Quik in a gelcap. So it
was a very sweet experience for all.

                                Cheers,
                                Kenneth
