Is it my misimpression, or has there really been little technical
advancement in small Hi-8 camcorders since about 2-3 years ago when the
first "stabilizers" came out?
(I'm referring to the electronic stabilizers, and Sony's better optical
stabilizer)
It seems to me that except for new color viewfinders, maybe bigger color
viewfinders, and some odd shapes, there hasn't been any real technical
advance in image quality. In fact, it seems that the requisite lux
ratings have gone UP instead of down. The older Hi-8's used to have a 1
lux minimum. Now I'm seeing 3 and 5 lux minimums.
Am I right, or have I missed something? If I've missed something, which
camcorders have significant advances?
Also, how far are we away from chip recorders?
