OK. The horns are similar on a few of the Kayak songs on their
_Starlight Dancer_ album. The horn sound I'm referring to is the one
used on APP songs like "Silence And I" and "Damned If I Do." For these
cases, Kayak was first. APP wasn't using that kind of horn sound on _I
Robot_ or _Tales..._
KA> BTW, who's Kayak?
A Dutch Prog Pop band from the 70s. I happen to like them quite a bit,
especially the albums _Royal Bed Bouncer_ and _Starlight Dancer_. They
are like a cross between Focus, Yes, and old Queen, but with a final
sound that is only Kayak. Later material has some Alan Parsons Project
sound to it. It's a nice mixture. Nothing they do is very challenging,
but they seem to have been masters at getting the harmonies and melodies
just right (the Yes influence). They've certainly struck a chord with
me. I'm a sucker for well-written pop, especially when it has Prog
tendencies like these guys.
