Thats funny, the old moderator left to deticate his time to developing
a new rifle round in the proof lab...
You are right, there are hundreds of calibers.  Thank goodness the
military rounds are standardized.
The russian round is actually not true .308, its .311-.313.  Its a lot
slower than .308 NATO but still penetrates well, and is quite stable.
