Are we talking about the same DJGPP? i got all zipped files (including
binaries), unzipped them from the same directory (with 'rebuild directory
structure' turned on), everything seemed allright until I tried to compile
something :-), it just didn't.. then I got back into FAQ files, made all the
global settings O.K., (I mean the file pointing to directories and dos DJGPP
variable etc.) but it still didn't work.. Then I tried to compile the source
code with DJGPP 1.0 (which I could somehow got working after a great effort)
but I could not manage that either..
Well, maybe I'm so used to using Borland products which requires virtually
no configuration, that I can not configure even a simple compiler.

For anyone who has used Tasm/Masm format for a considerable amount of time,
it is a quite uncomfortable style. Wouldn't mind much if I had to use it only
in inline asm bu object level incompatibilities force to use that syntax for
asm. modules that should be linked too..

I don't have any simplest idea about Quake, except that it is a popular doom
type game; is it 'there you were' as 'a great game like quake is
free/shareware' or 'it is not free/shareware even thought it was written
using DJGPP' ?
