JM| CS> Think I'll sell mine too. Could you suggest any good Qbasic
| CS> Compilers for OS/2?
|
JM|As far as I canfind, there is no "qbasic" or work-a-like for os2. I do
|believe that PDS from MicroSoft will generate os2 specific code, but how
|well, I don't know. Also, POWERSOFT (makers of PowerBasic) have been
|hinting of an os2 native of their product for what seems like years now
|and... nothing!
|
JM|I would suggest to you, what I'm doing... learning the C language...
|there's a veritable HORDE of os2 c compilers that work beautifully "out
|there"...
There is a tremendous market for an OS/2 BASIC!!! Or at least an Xbase
compiler (not a runtime like OnCmd. VX-REXX is as close as it comes, I think.
JM| CS> ..wishing I hadn't bought it now. :-(
|
JM|Yeah, me too. It was the worst spent $80.00 that I ever had the pleasure of
|spending. For another $19.00 I could have purchased the Watcom C compiler
|on CDrom, under their student program...
Uh, Realizer is, what, 12 Meg? (I forget) Watcom is 100 Meg. EMX is even
12-15 meg. Apart from the fact that C has got to be the most UNFRIENDLY
language around, and its insistent dominance of the OS/2 market preventing the
release of quite a few apps, I'm sure. You don't just get some guy sitting
down on the odd weekend to learn C and develop the next good Comm program....
that's what things like Visual Basic are for. That's what Realizer SHOULD'VE
been.
