Ok Jeff...
E-mail and the phones are ok here,it is the AC that is flakey as hell.
Every time they get a line fixed and energized,it can blow along the
repaired area behind where the work crews just spent 2 or 3 hours.
If you have seen the video of some of the areas up here then you know we got
hit pretty hard over a wide area.
Some towns look like Sarajevo after an artillery barrage with trees and
ires
down and strung all over the place.
Major problems here now are hydro, generators, phones, heat.
And to add an insult to the already crappy situation we are getting hit with
a
snow storm making road travel to outlying areas a real adventure right now.
I have been on call and duty since last week as well as doing 2m relay and
some simplex work from here in Ottawa to the towns on the St. Lawrence
eaway.
As I am on high ground outside the city area I have a nice clear "view" to
the south for long-distance 2m FM.
Some of the areas hit had NO amateur or communications of any sort for up
to two days before someone could get to them and get a station on the air.
My only loss of antennas was the HF dipole getting a busted trap for 20m.
I was `nuts' enough to go up the tower on Monday and Wednesday of last week
to get the ice off of the VHF/UHF rack to get them operating.
What did we do to deserve all this mess?
