Dunno where you live, but around Tacoma computers are being used in one
program for disadvantaged youth.  The school system being what it is
today in most places, kids who cannot learn by the methods used are out
of luck.  Kids who could learn by the use of computers need help from
those who can teach them.
I also learned that the schools in Alaska used a lot of computers due to
the scarcity of teachers.  The kids used them in several different
classes.  In one place, sex education was on disk where prudism would
not allow it to be taught openly in class.  The kids did manage to learn
something on their own.
