subject: What V34 Modem is best ?

Hi Bill,

MP>> I'm looking to purchase a v34 28800 data/fax (and possibly voice)
MP>> modem. What do people recommend. Must be Austel Approved.
TA>> USR Courier - feature packed and basically the best there is. I've
TA>> got one and I'm most pleased with it.

BG> No you haven't, Tony. Yours is not Austel-approved, and I can tell
BG> you from experience that the US/Canada model (which you have) with the
BG> latest 02/12 SDL works considerably better than the Austel model with
BG> the current 061 SDL.

BG> Why don't you tell the whole fucking world that we're using
BG> (or have used) non-approved modems on the PSTN????
BG> Christ Bill, I thought you had more sense than to say such a thing
BG> in a nationwide echo where people from Austel and telecom could be
BG> reading the shit!

I think you actually did the right thing. The guy specifically asked
for guidance with selecting an AUSTEL APPROVED modem and this is
something which the dickhead has a problem comprehending.

Regards, Brenton
