Raptor has what's called "Birthday Mode" on the days of the progammer's 
birthdays.  If you play the game one one of these dates, you'll get a rather 
interesting version of the Apogee fanfare when you fire up the game.  There 
are other differences (that may be where the cows and monkeys come in).  To 
find the dates, check out the Apogee FAQ.  It's got just about all the info 
you could possibly want about Apogee's games. I just checked the FAQ and here 
are some dates to try: March 12, May 16, August 28, and October 2.  With 
birthday mode on, some of the levels will have cows and monkeys in them, 
although it doesn't go into a whole lot of detail about all the differences.  
Give it a shot.
