| subject: | Chips Common As Mobiles |
Mulling over George Pope to Steve Asher 15 Apr 2005 Hi George, SA> Implanted Microchips Common As Cellphones Within A Decade SA> Prison Planet | April 15 2005 SA> will be common. Already two scientists at Britain's Warwick SA> University have chips embedded under their skin that let them send SA> emails just by thinking. GP> Oh, that one needs some elucidation! GP> I can't believe that they can send an email just by THINKING! I have a feeling the reporter was thinking of Professor Warwick, of Reading University, who was chipped a few years back, & who apparently uses the chip to control a computer which communicates with his wife. SA> "Twenty years from now, we (older generations) will still hate it, but SA> kids will never know a world without it." GP> Sadly, this is all too possible! :P Yes, remember the "good old days" when we were told we were free, & stuff like this happened behind the evil Iron Curtain? Now the Iron Curtain is down, but a Silicon Curtain is rising in its place. :( We need the chips so our children can get their free school lunch without their peers knowing they can't afford to buy it, or so we won't hold up Macca's staff when we drive our e-tag equipped cars through their remotely controlled "drive thru" to get our burgers & fries (and so on).
