subject: DOS version

VC> This I will need help in locating.

Ok.... I believe I have a compiled binary of the GNU version of the
program somewhere on my bbs (telnet://tophat.darktech.org, fidonet
1:343/41, running under OS/2). I'll have to do some digging and look.....

BJ> And since we are working with sourceforge for souce code control, a

VC> Hmm, I seem to remember that the os/2 versions of CVS
 VC> is somewhat old. Under
 VC> Linux I'm running 1.11.2 (Client/Server).

You will need a client / server version of CVS to use the sourceforge CVS
server. You could do all the CVS stuff from Linux (which is where I'm
currently setup for the CVS access).

BJ> That's the basics from my memory..... If you would like to help keep

Good! You will be able to compile all the OS/2, DOS and Win32 versions
(both 16 bit and 32 bit) then. The question becomes which make sub-system
to use. If you can get dmake working, the code just might compile using
Scott's make files.....

BJ> Also, with Watcom, we should be able to generate cross compiles for
BJ> the DOS and Win32 based system.

VC> In theory I should be able to compile Win and Dos providing all code to
VC> support swapping, DPMI etc is included.

Yup......

BJ> None of this is getting done with the current

 BJ> OS/2 (and DOS and Win32) envriornments.

BJ> Can you help with that?

VC> Yes, should be able to. As the OS/2 sub-system is on the same box as this
VC> Linux implementation I will keep the dual boot system until I can build a
VC> independent box just for OS/2/Win/Dos dev. The only
 VC> question is what platform
 VC> to use for building.

Well, I failed to get Openwatcom and a version of DMAKE working under OS/2
with the limited time I had to play with it. Scott last compiled the code
(prior to releasing it under GPL to the SourceForge site) on a Windows box
using an older version of the Watcom compiler, and of course DMAKE for the
make sub-system..... And we're now using GNU make and GCC for the current
compiles under Unix / Linux based systems......

Let me know what additional help you need, and remind me about YACC / BISON
if I don't post a note soon concerning where to find an OS/2 compiled
version of that (or file names to look for). I'm fairly certain a copy is
on the HOBBS OS/2 file archive site (US), and probably also on the Leo site
(Europe).

Take care.....
