>> What, pray tell, all my US friends, institute do you >> have, that establishes the proper use of your language? Or >> is it all laisser aller? MvdV> To me it seems that they still operate on the medieval principle of MvdV> "best fighter gets to make the rules". Sure seems to be the case when they want to write about Bern. A few observations I've made surfing the 'net may shed some light on this entire storm in a glass of water (a Swedish saying, I guess there's something similar in English and other languages?). One is there seems to be another Bern Convention. One that handles wild life conservation. It seems to always be spelled correctly, maybe they don't want to confuse the (c) related one with that one? According to www.mapquest.com there are eight US cities called Berne in eight different states, maybe they think the Bern Convention was signed in one of those? Mapquest, BTW, is a very interesting site. I found lots of Amsterdams and Rotterdams in the US for instance. There's also a county in South Carolina that has four adjacent cities called Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. I even found a Gothenburg in Nebraska. :) -- FidoNet in your news reader: news://felten.dyndns.org For full access, register at: http://felten.dyndns.org/join.html ---* Origin: news://felten.dyndns.org (2:203/2) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 203/2 0 20/11 106/1 2000 633/267 |
