-=> Ardith Hinton wrote to James Bradley <=- AH> Hi, James! Recently you wrote in a message to Daryl Stout: JB> Two surgeries bracketed three trips to emergency JB> last week for me. AH> Good grief! What brought that on, if I may ask?? :-) You may. Internal bleeding was the concern. The good news, is both procedures were othroscopic (SP?), so the recovery was minimal. [Good thing, because the neighbours have been slave-driving/screwing me (over).] The bad news, is I'm scheduled back in October for another round. At least I should have *my own* fence built by then! JB> Why can't they validate parking for their repeat JB> "customers"? AH> Yes, it seems unfair to me that parents have to pay for AH> parking at BCCH when they are helping the staff take care of their own AH> kids while other volunteers get free parking. Oh... and I There might be a discrepancy with who is helping, and who is hindering progress. Maybe, if a visitor pulls out their child's IV, they pay half price for parking? Then, there would need to be a penalty for those who pull out ewarly. I agree, if a parent participates in OT/PT, or is needed to translate for a patient, (The list could go forever.) there's no reason to squeeze them for revenue. As I've mentioned, I used to park in a neighbouring parking lot, and huff it in to my MD or minor procedure visits. (I used to park about a mile away from work too.) Now that a surgery has hobbled me, I have to pay each time I visit *anybody* - Medical or otherwise - and I have little choice but to frequent lots of places that I wouldn't have to if I refused treatment to that one ill-advised procedure. AH> got a ticket once in the emergency ward parking lot because AH> the meter had expired! If the hospitals are *that* hard up AH> for $$$, surely there must be a kinder way to get AH> donations.... ;-) It was explained to me, it's all in the hands of city hall. My last allergic reaction from a wasp sting had me pull into the parking lot, and attempt to find change for the meter. "You'll have to walk to the other end of the hospital to the kiosk vendors." My reply was to lift my cane, and point to my swollen face. In assessment, I was hypo-cardia so they ran me into a suit where I explained my willingness to avoid being ticketed. "We'll take care of that for you. What's your license plate number?" Six hours later, there's a ticket on my windshield! And they wonder why there's abuse? ...
